CPS Energy offers rebates to residential customers who replace an aging central AC or heat pump with a qualifying high-efficiency system. To get one, you generally need a CPS Energy account, a licensed contractor, AHRI-certified equipment, and paperwork filed within the program's deadline. AC American Air handles that filing for you as part of the install.

Step-by-step: qualifying for a rebate

Confirm you have an active CPS Energy residential account
Rebates are tied to the CPS Energy account at the service address. The home being upgraded must be served by CPS Energy.

Use a licensed Texas contractor and qualifying equipment
The new system must be installed by a Texas-licensed HVAC contractor and meet the program's efficiency tier, documented by an AHRI certificate for the matched system.

Get the system right-sized and permitted
We perform a Manual J load calculation and pull the required permit if your home is inside city limits. Both are typically expected for rebate-eligible installs.

Gather the documentation
Rebate paperwork generally needs the AHRI certificate, equipment model and serial numbers, photos of the installed equipment, and the itemized invoice.

Applications are time-sensitive. Typically filed within about 30 days of installation, during the active program year. We submit the paperwork for you so nothing slips.
