Carrier Warranty, Explained (and the 90-Day Catch)

A warranty has two separate halves, and people mix them up constantly. Parts covers the components themselves; labor covers the work to swap them. Qualified Carrier systems carry up to 10-year parts with a standard 1-year labor term, and you can add extended 5- or 10-year labor coverage through Carrier's coolCare program. Parts and labor are not the same clock.

Here's the part that quietly costs people thousands: that headline 10-year parts coverage only applies if the system is registered with Carrier within 90 days of installation. Miss the window and the parts term typically drops to the shorter base coverage. It's a five-minute step that's easy to forget, so we register every system we install for you, on time, and keep the confirmation on file.

A warranty protects equipment, not workmanship, so a bad install is the fastest way to lose it. Improper changeout practices, a mismatched or non-AHRI-certified system, or skipped maintenance can all void or limit coverage. That's not fine print meant to scare you; it's the reason factory-authorized install standards exist. Do it right, and the coverage actually stands behind you.
